Amazon just introduced new smartglasses for its delivery fleet that project navigation instructions and package info directly into a driver’s vision, marking the e-commerce giant’s latest infusion of AI tech into its efficiency push. The glasses display turn-by-turn directions, package scanning data, and delivery confirmations, eliminating constant phone checking during deliveries.

Public figures across tech and politics have signed a Future of Life Institute letter demanding governments prohibit superintelligence development until it's proven controllable and the public approves its creation. The letter cites concerns including ‘human economic obsolescence,’ ‘losses of freedom, civil liberties, dignity, and control,’ and ‘potential human extinction.’

Meta just eliminated roughly 600 positions across its AI division, according to a memo from Chief AI Officer Alexandr Wang — with the company’s FAIR research arm reportedly impacted but its superintelligence group TBD Lab left intact.

Google has published a paper describing a computational approach that demonstrates a quantum advantage compared to current algorithms. The effort centers around a concept called 'quantum echoes', a series of operations on the hardware qubits that make up the machine. Using the approach, Google researchers completed a task using quantum computing that could have been done on classical hardware, demonstrating quantum utility.

Reddit has filed a lawsuit against Perplexity and three data-scraping companies, alleging they circumvented Reddit's protections to steal content for training AI models without paying licensing fees, while Reddit maintains paid partnerships with competitors like OpenAI and Google.

Quick Guide to Download ChatGPT Atlas on Mac

  1. Go to chatgpt.com/atlas and click the Download for macOS button in the upper-right corner.

  2. Select ChatGPT Atlas and drag the app into the Applications folder on your Mac.

  3. Click on the app to open it, and if a security warning appears, click Open to continue.

  4. When Atlas launches for the first time, you’ll see a welcome screen. Click Log in with ChatGPT, then sign in using your existing OpenAI credentials or create a new account if you don’t have one.

  5. During setup, you’ll be asked whether you’d like to import browser data from Chrome or Safari. Click Start import if you want to bring your bookmarks and settings over, or Skip to move on.

  6. Atlas will then ask if you’d like to enable browser memories so the browser can remember your preferences and browsing habits for smarter responses and proactive suggestions. Choose Turn On or Skip depending on your preference.

  7. Once setup is complete, you can start using ChatGPT Atlas right away. You can also set Atlas as your default browser.
